We cannot keep on publishing that the Requesens came to Molins de Rei (Rubricata) in the 15th century thanks to Galceran de Requesens, as it is sufficiently documented that in the 9th century the Requesens used to defend their land from the Catholic clergymen of the Frankish king Charlemagne who wanted to take them with his Bishop of Barcelona’s help. After decades of struggle and civil war, thanks to the Council of the year 878 held in Troyes (France), the Catholic Bishop of Barcelona Frodoi seized the Camps of Santa Eulalia which had been owned by the Requesens. In the documents of the time the Requesens are not mentioned, their name was “Reconsido the Goth”. The Reconsidos (Requesindo, Recesvinto), had been Gothic kings, heads of the Arian Christian Church.
Despite the famous Lluis de Requesens, hero of the battle of Lepanto and celebrated governor of The Netherlands, studies on the Requesens are few and of poor quality. If you research their history you will find out unimaginable circumstances, as it is the case of the Vice-queen of Naples, Isabel de Requesens, who happens to be the famous Gioconda or Mona Lisa (Beautiful Elizabeth) painted by Leonardo da Vinci. The Requesens were also the Princes of Pantelleria which, although it may seem something very refined, would not have any significance if in that island there was not the city of Gadir. Thanks to the fact that I knew the existence of Gadir, and while still researching, I have found the mythical city of Atlantis.
